Hi, I'm Frankie.

Accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist

I know how exhausting insomnia can be. I help clients safely update the automatic responses that cause bedtime anxiety, so they can quiet their minds and allow their bodies to naturally transition into restorative rest.

The reality of insomnia

Anxiety about sleep often begins long before bedtime. It can be incredibly frustrating to feel physically exhausted yet still be unable to fall asleep, or stay asleep.

For those caught in this cycle, the challenges may include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep: An overactive mind or physical tension that keeps the brain switched ‘on’ even when the body is extremely tired.
  • Unwanted wake-ups: Waking in the early hours and struggling to return to sleep, while the mind starts to wander.
  • Worrying about insomnia: ‘Clock watching’ and feeling stressed about being unable to sleep.
  • The daytime toll: Chronic tiredness, weakened immunity, and feeling stressed and irritable.

This ongoing cycle of sleep deprivation and stress can severely impact daily focus, emotional resilience, and overall physical and mental wellbeing.

Trying harder doesn’t help: Sleep is an automatic, unconscious process. The anxiety of ‘trying’ to sleep can trigger a release of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline—the exact chemicals that keep you alert. When the mind is stuck in this anxious loop, it temporarily loses the ability to safely transition into a resting state.

How clinical hypnotherapy can help

Hypnotherapy aims to safely bypass this conscious frustration and communicate directly with the subconscious mind. The goal is to gently update automatic patterns, helping the body remember how to naturally shift into a calmer resting state.

During our collaborative sessions, you will discover how to:

  • Calm the ‘alert’ response: Teach the nervous system how to move from high-alert into a state of deep relaxation.
  • Quiet the mental chatter: Use practical tools to gently interrupt racing thoughts and ‘what-if’ scenarios that often strike in the middle of the night.
  • Establish a ‘relaxation anchor’: Build a personalised toolkit to gently return the mind and body to a calm state if you wake during the night.
  • Reframe the routine: Help the brain associate bedtime with profound relaxation rather than frustration.

Common questions about hypnotherapy for insomnia

Do I have to listen to a recording to fall asleep every night?

No. While audio recordings can initially help to establish a new pattern, the aim is to teach the subconscious mind how to naturally allow sleep to occur, without permanently relying on external tools or recordings.

Is it safe to use hypnotherapy alongside my sleep medication?

Yes, clinical hypnotherapy is a safe, complementary approach. Clients often find that they can gradually reduce their reliance on sleep medication as their natural sleep patterns improve. However, any medication changes must be discussed with your medical doctor.

How many sessions are typically required?

Sleep patterns often respond well to hypnotherapy. Around three to six sessions are typically recommended for insomnia or sleep issues. We will focus on building your confidence in your own ability to rest, and review your progress at each appointment.

How do we meet?

Sessions are held via secure online video calls (telehealth). For clients experiencing insomnia, this is particularly helpful as it allows you to learn calming techniques at home where you sleep, without the stress of commuting or finding a car park.
