Hi, I'm Frankie.

Accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist

I know how exhausting flight anxiety can be. I help clients safely update the automatic responses that make flying difficult, so they can travel with more confidence and calm.

The reality of flight anxiety

Anxiety about an upcoming flight often begins long before boarding time. Perhaps even the moment an overseas holiday is mentioned or when tickets are finally booked.

For those caught in this loop, the challenges may include:

  • Anticipatory worry: Losing sleep in the days or weeks leading up to the trip.
  • Physical panic: A racing heart, sweaty palms, or chest tightness.
  • Searching for relief: Relying on alcohol or medication just to get through a flight.
  • Catastrophising: Mentally looping through ‘worst-case’ scenarios.

This ongoing cycle of stress and avoidance can be exhausting and expensive – stealing away family events, career opportunities, and peace of mind.

Logic doesn’t stop the fear: Flight anxiety is an automatic, subconscious response. The nervous system is triggering an ‘alarm’ response for protection, even though the rational brain knows you are not in any real danger.

How clinical hypnotherapy can help

Hypnotherapy aims to bypass the logical part of the brain and work directly with the subconscious. This enables us to safely update underlying patterns that trigger the anxious response, rather than just managing symptoms after they occur.

During our collaborative sessions, you will discover how to:

  • Interrupt the panic loop: Notice the early signs of anxiety and use practical, physical tools to help calm your nervous system.
  • Reframe associations: Shift your perspective so your mind can gradually perceive the aircraft cabin as a safe, neutral space.
  • Build physical calm: Learn techniques to support steady breathing and a calmer heart rate during turbulence or takeoff.
  • Move toward thriving: Shift your focus from ‘worst-case’ scenarios to building a genuine sense of anticipation for reaching your destination.

“Helped me so much with my fear of flying”
“Frankie helped me so much with my fear of flying, I’ve just done 2 incredibly long flights and couldn’t believe the change. [...] She listens, remembers and takes great care in understanding everything surrounding your needs. She [...] goes completely at your pace and follows your lead and it was really organic and not forced at all. I cannot recommend Mind[free] Hypnotherapy more!”

Common questions about hypnotherapy for fear of flying

Will I have to ‘relive’ a bad flight experience?

No. While we may briefly acknowledge a difficult past experience, this approach focuses heavily on the present. We look at the process of your fear—how your mind is creating the anxiety right now—and learn how to safely choose more helpful ways to respond. You are never pushed to share more than you feel comfortable with.

How many sessions will I need?

The goal is to help you build your confidence in as few appointments as possible. Around three to six sessions are typically recommended to help with fear of flying. We aim to build your confidence level well before your next scheduled flight, and we will review your progress at each appointment.

How do we meet?

Sessions are held via secure online video calls (telehealth). This allows you to learn new skills and practice calming techniques in the comfort of your own home. It also removes the stress of commuting or finding a car park before our session begins.
